If you have odoo.sh to host your ERP. Upgrading odoo is just a click away. Login to your odoo.sh and select the project where you are eligible as system administrator, and select a production branch that you want to upgrade.
If you are the lucky guy who has the admin rights, you will see this Upgrade tab in Odoo.sh

Then select the version that you want to upgrade to, and click Upgrade at your own risk. if you have no customized code, and your database is smaller than 25 GB, normally it just take a few minutes to upgrade and you are as good as new.
What I personally like is that, Odoo is smart enough to do database backup prior to me being an end user clicking an Upgrade button in Upgrade tab. This backup can be found in "Backup" tab.

If nothing goes wrong, your upgrade tab will show you this message.

What I personally like from Odoo version 18, is an enhancement in Accounting period lock. You can find this when you login to your odoo environment as an accountant user, Accounting-> Lock Dates. This is how it looks like in Odoo version 18. Richer compare to odoo v17 I'd say. Just be careful not to hard lock the whole book if you are unsure yet. Not even your administrator can unlock it.
