ERP add-ons
TIMEperative
TIMEperative is our own time tracking app for Windows and Android. People record and plan their working time where they work, and approved hours reach your Odoo projects.
TIMEperative is in early access. The current versions are test versions: features can still change, some are still being tested on real devices, and the Windows installer is not code-signed yet.
Why we built it
A company that sells time runs on its time records. Project costs, invoices, utilisation and the next plan all start from them.
When hours are written up at the end of the week, from memory and a calendar, the detail is lost first. TIMEperative records time while the work happens, so the record is complete when it is needed.
It also plans in the other direction. Odoo Planning assigns people to shifts by role, from the top, and employees can take or swap the shifts that are published. With TIMEperative, each person plans their own week and sees how it actually went.
What it does
On first start, a short setup asks how the app will be used: private and family, project team work or case work. It then switches on the sections that fit.
- Tracking: work and private time in one place, on the Windows PC and the Android phone, with a running timer and reminders
- Suggestions: entries proposed from Outlook, Google or ICS calendars and, if switched on, from activity on the PC; each one is accepted or dismissed
- Planning: each person plans their own time and compares the plan with the time actually worked; planned time is never billed
- Billing: rules turn approved hours into billable hours, with breaks, rounding, minimums and caps, and a locked CSV export
- Budgets: hours are spread across budget positions, and a policy allows or blocks an overrun
- Travelling: trips, mileage rates and travel budgets
- Swiss defaults: the statutory break rules and Zurich public holidays
- A change history for every entry, and CSV exports of entries and changes
- English and German, and updates by itself: at every start and every morning, never before 06:00
Your data stays on your device
TIMEperative keeps its data in a local database on each device. There is no TIMEperative account, no server of ours in between and no telemetry. Entries do not sync between devices; only the settings can be copied to another device as a file.
Sign-in keys for Odoo and the calendars are kept in the Windows Credential Manager or encrypted with the Android Keystore. Calendar import uses your company's own Microsoft Entra or Google sign-in registration. Everything except these connections works offline.
How it works with Odoo
TIMEperative works with Odoo 18 today; support for Odoo 19 is in progress. It imports projects and tasks with each person's own Odoo login, so Odoo's access rights decide what each person sees.
The app has no manager role: each person approves their own entries and then sends approved actual time to Odoo for a date range. In Odoo, a manager approves the entries. Only then do they become timesheet lines on the project and count in project costs and invoicing like any other timesheet.
| What | Where it is kept |
|---|---|
| Projects and tasks | In Odoo. The app imports them. |
| Recorded time, not yet approved | In the app only. |
| Approved actual time | Sent to Odoo by the person. A timesheet line once a manager approves it there. |
| Planned time and budgets | In the app only. |
The connection needs a companion module in your Odoo database. It therefore runs on Odoo.sh or on your own server. Odoo Online does not accept custom modules.
Other ERP systems
Odoo is the first ERP that TIMEperative connects to. Connectors for NetSuite and for Microsoft Dynamics 365 are planned; they are not available yet.
Early access and download
We are looking for teams that work in Odoo and want to try TIMEperative with us. Request early access below, and tell us how your team records time today.
To try it on your own first, download the current test version for Windows or Android. Releases are published on GitHub.
- Windows warns before the installer runs, because it is not code-signed yet. Company PCs often block such installers, so ask your IT team first.
- On Android, allow your browser to install apps when it asks.
- On Windows, the app asks before it installs an update. On Android, you confirm each update.
Because nothing is more precious than your time.
Tell us how your team records time today. We will show you how TIMEperative fits your Odoo projects.
